Goth, punk, and hardcore alt-teenage girls everywhere will rejoice at the news that Emily the Strange is coming to the big screen. Darkhorse Entertainment is bringing the counter culture creation of skateboarder Rob Reger to life with a story that will tell the origin of the unique teenage heroine.
While no studio is attached, and it has yet to be determined whether the film will be live action, animated, or a combination of the two there are a few details known. The movie will feature Emily and her four cats "troublemaker Sabbath, schemer Nee-Chee, imaginative Miles and leader Mystery. It will also have 13 new characters with names like Earwig, Umlaut, McFreeley and Officer Summers. The story forms the basis of an "Emily" young adult novel, which will be published next year" Oh cross promotional marketing is such a wonderful thing...
Is Emily selling out? Will she be washed of her hipness? Will this dull the edge??? Methinks probably so...
