Well, as you probably know by now, yesterday Stan Winston died at age 62. As was reported he died at his home with friends and family around him after battling for 7 years with multiple myeloma cancer. Winston was a special effects and cinematic legend and he will be sorely missed by the film loving world.
As a visual effects and make up specialist Winston created some of the most iconic and enduring film creatures, from James Cameron's The Thing, The Terminator, and Aliens, to Predator, Edward Scissorhands, Jurassic Park, Pumpkinhead, Alien Nation, Leviathan, Batman Returns, Small Soldiers, A.I., Constantine and god just so many more. he was an amazing craftsman who helped define popular culture in film for the last 25 years. His most recent work was as the man who brought Iron Man to life, and on next summers Terminator Salvation.
It's a sad day for all of us when we lose a master. R.I.P. Stan.
