Variety reports that Charlize Theron has just signed on to a film that I have to say sounds very intriguing in a Mad Max meets Midnight Nation sort of way. The movie called The Road is set to start shooting next month and will star Viggo Mortenson as a man who "embarks on a nightmarish road trip after a nuclear explosion in an attempt to transport his son to safety while fending off cannibals"....
I know what your thinking now; do we really need another cannibal movie? but the answer of course is yes! Especially when the book was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2006! For real.
Theron, specifically will play Viggo's wife and will most likely only been seen in flashbacks to 'happier times' but I have to say I like the set up for this film. It sounds very desolate and beautiful, we need more of that.
