The Gears of War film is finally gearing up. Underworld director Len Wiseman has jumped on board the previously stalled film based on the ever so popular video game and the film looks like its moving forward. The plan at the moment is to film in 2009 for a 2010 release. As Variety reports, a redraft of the script is currently underway by Chris Morgan, who is also the man behind Wanted, and the upcoming Fast and Furious film. Should be agood pairing as the two are already collaborating on a film called Shell Game.
The story of the game, which I've never played, and is presumably the same as the upcoming film sounds like a crazy alien killing adventure. "Gears revolves around a world reeling from an invasion by aliens known as the Locust, and a small team of elite soldiers who fight to retake the planet Sera and save its human inhabitants." The game which came out in 2006 from Microsoft is their second biggest franchise after Halo, and a sequel game is shipping this November.
Should be a good one, especially if the Halo film doesn't really get off the ground for a while. Let's finish off by rewatching that wonderful commercial for Gears of War featuring the Gary Jules, Mad World song...

So I read this post about 5 minutes ago, watch the "Gears of War" video for the Mad World song, and then on my morning radio, still playing in the background, there it was as well;
"Mad World", but a totally crazy acid-jazzy-hyped-up-version.
Though I'm looking at the playlist right now, I can't seem to find that song. Strange, it's like they only put up every second or third song the bastards!
BvB
I think originally it was a Cure song. Maybe it was their version? or a remix?
