Mark Millar and John Romita Jr's indie comic book Kick Ass, which as far as I can tell has only released 2 issues so far, has been picked up for film development by Matthew Vaughn's company MARV films. Vaughn is writing the screenplay with Jane Goldman,
According to wikipedia, the story follows 15 year old Dave, who decides after his mother dies to try to become a superhero, even though he lives in the 'real world'. He has no powers, and is a regular teen, he's just kinda screwed up, has a love for comic books, and wants to do something real. So he puts on a costume, starts working out, and tries to go out to fight crime. On his first time out though he gets almost beaten to death. Despite this, Dave keeps at it, making small but significant headway.
Sounds like it could make an interesting film.
