Because we can't have just one movie about the ancient Greek Gods, we're going to be treated to two!
Tarsem Singh, director of The Cell, and the upcoming The Fall, is set to step into the director's chair for a movie called War of the Gods. Apparently set to start filming next year the movie will take its cue from 300 and be an fx heavy battle royale. According to IMDB, the plot follows "A purported bastard who retains an allegiance to his mother despite the fact that he longs to join the quest of a king who is battling demons in ancient Greece later embarks on a trail of discovery that has him finding he is the king's son and also fated to become his country's greatest hero as he leads the successful war against long-imprisoned Titans who are hoping to use the demons to restore their power."
Wait... what was that about Titans you say??? Wasn't there some other Titan film in the works?!
Yes of course, the Clash of the Titans remake seems to finally be moving ahead, Last I mentioned this film here, Stephen Norrington was set to direct... .Well thats not the case anymore as Louis LeTerrier has stepped into the role of director. Although where that leaves Strays, or Blacksad for that matter remains to be seen. Clash of the Titans sees "Perseus, the son of Zeus, must overcome a series of obstacles to save his beloved Princess Andromeda, including cutting off the serpent-tressed head of Medusa, who can turn a man to stone with a single glance." According to Latino Review Warner's is "really keen" on Lawrence Kasden's recent draft of the script which according to IESB has "nudity, sex and lots of gore-rific ugly deaths by really bad ass ugly monsters." and plays as a hard R film.
I know both of these films could be great. I just hope we don't end up with a dearth of these now that 300 has done so well. Speaking of which, you know they're trying to come up with a sequel / prequel to that now too?! Crazytown I tells ya, totally bonkers.
Sigh... as long as the end product turns out well I guess I'm ok with it, but its still a bit ridiculous. Oh well, bring on the Greeks, I'll just have to prepare myself.
